Cross Country Hosts Pacific Invitational

LODI, Calif. – The Pacific cross country team hosts its Pacific Invitational at Micke Grove Golf Course at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

The men's 8k will start at 5:30 p.m. and will follow with the women's 6k at 6:10 p.m. This year's Pacific invitational will feature seven schools from California, including West Coast Conference opponent Saint Mary's.

"We are thrilled to host this year's rendition of the Pacific Cross Country Invitational locally at Micke Grove," Pacific head coach Isaac Wood said. "Our teams have worked really hard the past few weeks comings off of the Roy Griak Invitational and are ready to show some of the fitness we've gained. The teams coming to join us in this meet will provide a great opportunity to see where each program is at and where we are improving and developing."

Last time out, the Tigers ran at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational where freshman Jett Davenport's earned him WCC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Sept. 23.

Davenport represented the first Tiger to cross the finish line at the Roy Griak Invitational, securing a top 50 spot in the men's 8k with a time of 26:48.1. It was the second weekly award for the men's cross country team as sophomore Kohl Sanders collected the first one following Pacific's title at the Big Wave Invitational.

On the women's side, sophomore Angelina Lione looks to lead her teammates as she has finished all three races first for the Tigers so far this year. Lione earned 29th place individually, earning a time of 22:49.3 in the 6k in Minnesota two weeks ago.

The Tigers will also look for strong performances from their veteran runners in graduate student Sophia Livingston and senior Emily Wernli, who are familiar running at the Micke Grove Golf Course.

Live results for both races of the Pacific Invitational can be found here.
