SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Following a 1-0 shutout victory by the Pacific men's soccer program over Saint Mary's at Saint Mary's Stadium, junior
Milo Risenhoover was named West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
Risenhoover becomes the first Tiger to earn WCC Defensive Player of the Week since last season when
Joshua Moya earned the honor during the first week of the season.
"I'm happy for Milo and all of the work he has put in with coach Logan Kowalczyk," Pacific head coach
Adam Reeves said. "It is a testament to the goalkeeping crew and their daily grind. In addition, it's a team award as the entire group worked for a complete 90 minutes on Saturday to ensure the shutout. Saint Mary's put us under a lot of pressure in the last 30 and I thought Milo did a great job commanding his area and organizing the group in front of him."
Risenhoover, a native of Portland, Oregon, recorded the first clean sheet of the season by a Tiger, totaling a season-high five saves against the Gaels. The shutout over Saint Mary's marked the first time the Tigers had defeated the Gaels in Moraga, California.
Risenhoover and the rest of the Tigers now have their eyes set on Wednesday's contest against San Francisco, beginning at 7 p.m. from Knoles Field.
