PULLMAN, Wash. – Winners of four straight, Pacific women's basketball hits the road for a pair of critical conference tests at Washington State at 6 p.m. Thursday at Beasley Coliseum, and Gonzaga at 2 p.m. Saturday at the McCarthey Athletic Center.
Pacific (11-10, 7-4 WCC) enters the contest with Washington State (13-10, 8-4 WCC) just 1.5 games out of first-place in the West Coast Conference standings. The Tigers would pass the Cougars with a win.
Graduate
Liz Smith cemented herself as a lockdown defender in the month of January, averaging a league best 3.43 steals per game and is the only player with more than 20 total steals (24). Her efforts have translated to a Pacific defense that has forced the most turnovers in the WCC in the month (135) and the most steals in the month (75).
Pacific has allowed just 59.7 points per game defensively in January and has held the opposition to a .378 clip.
Offensively, senior
Anaya James has gotten hot as she's averaging 19.3 points per game over her last three outings. James has scored 15 or more points in eight of the last 11 games.
Senior
Elizabeth Elliott returned to the lineup this past Saturday against Oregon State and posted 10 points and five rebounds off the bench. She'd missed the previous four games due to injury.
The Tigers are going for their first win at Gonzaga (13-8, 8-2 WCC) since Jan. 23, 2016. It will come after Pacific makes its first trip to Washington State since Dec. 1, 1989.
