STOCKTON, Calif. – Coming off back-to-back wins, the Pacific women's basketball program sits just two games out of first place in the West Coast Conference standings as it travels to Pepperdine's Firestone Fieldhouse on Thursday at 6 p.m. before facing Oregon State on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Alex G. Spanos Center.
Pacific (9-10, 5-4 WCC) knocked off LMU 62-51 and San Francisco 76-64 at home last week as it prepares to face Pepperdine (7-9, 2-5 WCC). Head Coach
Bradley Davis has traditionally excelled at dispatching the Waves, averaging a 12.5-point margin of victory in his 15 career wins versus Pepperdine.
In last season's road meeting, graduate
Liz Smith put together a balanced performance of 13 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Smith is also the only active Pacific Tiger to average double figures against Pepperdine. A win on Thursday would even the all-time series at seven each in Malibu but give the Tigers a 20-10 lead in the all-time series.
Oregon State (9-10, 5-3 WCC) meanwhile returns to Stockton after suffering an overtime defeat to the Tigers in December. In that game, senior
Anaya James scored a season-high 22-points on a career-high six three-pointers.
Liz Smith also tallied her first career double-double with 11-points and 10-assists in the match.
The Tiger defense was dominant in the match, tallying a season-high 17 steals and forced 29 turnovers, the best showing against a division one team this season.
Pacific's win over the Beavers was the first in program history and another win would tie the all-time series inside the Spanos Center.
Both matches are set to air on ESPN+.
