LODI, Calif. – On a picturesque night at Micke Grove, the Pacific cross country team hosted its Pacific Invitational, finishing in sixth out of the nine-team field on Friday.
The Tigers were led by junior
Emily Wernli, who completed the women's 6k course with the second-best time by a Pacific student-athlete at 22:55.2. The Brea, California native crossed the finish line first for Pacific just outside of the top-25 on the individual leaderboard.
"Everyone ran really well today," head coach
Josh Jones said. "Emily was the second fastest person we've had run this course. We're still on really tired legs, but they ran great."
Sophomore
Valeria Espinoza was the second Tiger to complete the race, finishing in the top half with a 24:19.5.
Senior
Dalee Higgins was right behind Espinoza in 52nd, earning a 24:21.3. Senior
Sophia Livingston wrapped up the course just under 25 minutes with a time of 24:32.4.
Pacific returns to the course in two weeks as the Tigers head to Santa Clarita, California for the Master's University Invite on October 5.
"We're going to keep pushing forward," Jones said. "You'll see our efforts start paying off soon."
