Zingel's Brace Propels Tigers to 2-0 Road Victory

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - A pair of goals by fifth year forward Vinzent Zingel headlined a 2-0 shutout win for the Pacific men's soccer team over UC Riverside on Sunday night at UCR Soccer Stadium.

Both goals came in the second half for Zingel, who registered his first career multi-goal game. He notched the go-ahead goal in the 60th minute and added an insurance tally in the 84th minute. Both goals were netted into the lower right corner.

It was the first road win of the season for Pacific (2-1) and the first road shutout for the program since 2022.

"I'm very happy with the performance tonight," head coach Adam Reeves said. "It starts and ends with the work rate. The football will take care of itself, and I thought for long stretches we played some good football. The front three were excellent throughout the match. Josh [Moya] did a fantastic job at the end of the match securing a shutout. We need to clean up the details of closing a match out. Other than that, the boys should be very happy with themselves."

Zingel was one of six Tigers to record a shot in the game along with senior Emmanuel Obiefuna, junior Jose Maria Barrera, graduate student Kai Sullivan, sophomore Massimo Erfani and junior Jacob Heisner. Obiefuna and Heisner both played 90 minutes.

Moya, a senior, made his third start of the season in goal. He faced 19 shots and collected six saves for his second clean sheet of the season and fourth of his career. Junior Luca Baltzer and graduate student Javier Chavez were also key contributors in the shutout as they logged 90 minutes apiece.

The Tigers will wrap-up a three-game road swing with a Thursday contest against CSU Northridge at 7 p.m. at Matador Soccer Field. Pacific returns home Monday, Sept. 9 when it hosts UC Santa Barbara at 7 p.m. at Knoles Field.
