TUCSON, Ariz. - The Pacific women's soccer team dropped its road opener to Arizona, 5-0, on Sunday at Murphey Field.
"Not the performance we expected today, but it's still very early in the season," Pacific co-head coaches
Danesha Adams and
J.J. Wozniak said. "With two matches under our belt now, the group is aware of the things that have to get better in order to have the success we want this season. We will get back at it this week and thoroughly prepare for our next match."
The Tigers (1-1-0) took three shots in the match, while the Wildcats (2-0-0) were fueled by a four-goal performance by Nicole Dallin.
The Wildcats scored three goals in the first half, beginning with a goal in the box by Dallin in the tenth minute. Dallin made the score, 2-0, on a feed to middle in 23rd minute.
In the 37th minute, Arizona found the back of the net to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Dallin completed her hat trick four minutes into the second half and scored on a penalty kick in the 52nd minute to result in the final tally of 5-0.
Sophomore
Libby Davy earned the start in goal for the Tigers, facing five shots. Freshman
Sierra Schwarz made her Tigers debut, making her first career save in relief of Davy in the second half.
The Tigers return home to take on UC Davis next Sunday at 1 p.m. at Knoles Field.
