Lux, Petersen Shine in 6-4 Win Over Fresno State

STOCKTON, Calif. – Behind a season-high 14 hits and effective pitching, the Pacific baseball team defeated Fresno State, 6-4, on Tuesday night at Klein Family Field.

Sophomore Jackson Lux earned his first career win for the Tigers (10-38), finding his groove a relief appearance that stymied the Bulldogs (27-21).

"Everyone did their part," Lux said. "We got ahead, threw strikes and earned the win."

Lux pitched 4.1 innings, allowing no runs and struck out seven batters, tying a single game-high by a relief pitcher this season.

Sophomore Kaden Petersen was a catalyst at the plate, collecting his first career four-hit game and knocking in three runs.

"I felt really good today," Petersen said. "I battled in some tough counts. I really focused on putting in the energy and effort. For the results to match with how I played today was great."

Senior Jacob Weiss went 2-for-3 with his third home run of the season and scored twice. Freshman Gabe Camacho and sophomore Rylan Evans added multi-hit performances that helped carry the Tigers' offense to victory.

The Tigers struck first with a two-out rally in the bottom of the first, stringing four consecutive hits and taking a 2-0 lead on RBI singles from sophomore Jake Tandy and Petersen.

The Bulldogs got a run back in the top of the second, but Weiss responded in the bottom of the third with a solo home run to give Pacific a 3-1 lead.

In the top of the fifth inning, Petersen drove in two more Tigers with a single over second base that extended the home team's lead to 5-1.

Fresno State chipped away at Pacific's lead in the top of the eighth and ninth innings, but Camacho sealed the victory with his first career save, ending with a 6-4 final score.

Up next, the Tigers return to action at 3 p.m. on Friday at Saint Mary's.
