No. 60 Tigers Battle Eastern Kentucky in UTR Sports NIT Opening Round

STOCKTON, Calif.- The No. 60 Pacific men's tennis team makes its first postseason debut in two decades as the Tigers travel to the UTR Sports NIT Championship at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. The No. 2 seeded Tigers face Eastern Kentucky in the opening round with the match set for Sunday, May 5 at 1:30 p.m. PST.
 
Senior Peter Alam leads the Tigers with a 12-3 singles record and is one of five Tigers with double digit singles wins this season. Alam, a member of the All-WCC Singles First Team, has ten wins between courts one and two. 
 
Sophomore Tiago Silva has 14 singles wins this season, ten from court three and earned an All-WCC honorable mention. Fellow sophomore Terence Das has 11 singles wins between courts three and four. 
 
Seniors Andre Rodeia and Ran Amar have a combined 23 wins on the year. Rodeia has won his last three matches, including a two set victory over Pepperdine on Senior Day.
 
Alam and doubles partner junior Justas Trainauskas lead all Tigers with nine doubles wins on the year.
 
It's the first ever meeting for the all-time series between Pacific and Eastern Kentucky, as the opposite time zone programs have yet to face off on court. The Tigers enter with a 17-5 record on the season after falling to Pepperdine in the semifinal of the WCC tournament. The Colonels sit at 20-9 on the season after they were defeated by Stetson in the opening round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.
