STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific women's tennis team faced a 3-1 deficit before claiming the final three singles courts to clinch the match 4-3 at home. The Tigers move to 5-2 at home on the season, while winning their third straight match and clinching their first win over CSUN in Stockton.
After CSUN captured the doubles point with wins on courts one and three, the Tigers began their rally for a come from behind victory. In singles, senior
Klara Kosan jump started the comeback, getting the Tigers on the board after handling CSUN's Sasha Turchak 6-0, 6-4. The senior captain moved to 10-4 on the year from court one while extending her singles match winning streak to four.
The Matadors struck back on courts three and four to move within striking distance of a match victory, but the Tigers had other plans. Senior
Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle came back after dropping her opening set against Elena Goodman. She bounced back in the second, taking it swiftly 6-2 before having to battle back from down 2-5 in the tiebreaking set. The senior extended her match winning streak to seven after taking the final set 7(7)-6(5).
With Pacific down 3-2, freshman
Milena Maiorova stepped up from court five after falling in her opening set to Angela Ho. She claimed two hard earned tiebreakers, 7(7)-6(3), 7(7)-6(5), to tie the match 3-3. After falling in the tiebreaker in her first set, junior
Tomi Main claimed the second set 7(7)-6(4) before icing the match with a 6-2 third set decision over Yuliia Zhytelna.
The Tigers return tomorrow morning, Sunday, April 7 at 11 a.m. for a match against Cal State Fullerton.
