No. 21 Pacific Drops GCC Third Place Game to No. 23 San Diego State

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – No. 21 Pacific women's water polo dropped the Golden Coast Conference third place game to No. 23 San Diego State by a score of 12-8 on Sunday at Sullivan Aquatic Center.

Sophomore Dora Alaksza led the way with a game-high five goals while registering two steals. Junior Hila Futorian notched three points on two goals and one assist.

Freshman goalkeeper Maja Lizy Dulic grabbed 12 saves in net and registered two steals.

Alaksza got Pacific (16-11, 4-3 GCC) going with a 2-0 start in the first period. San Diego State (17-15, 4-3 GCC) responded with three-straight goals to take the 3-2 lead at the end of the first 10 minutes.

The second period was back and forth between both teams. Senior Annikah Lillie and Futorian contributed goals that tied the game at five-all with 3:08 left before halftime. Dulic blocked a shot attempt by the Aztecs to keep the Tigers' chances of a comeback alive at halftime.

Unfortunately, Pacific was held just to three goals in the second half while San Diego State tallied seven to bring the game to its final score.

Futorian was selected to the GCC All-Tournament Team.

The Tigers conclude the 2024 season with a 16-11 overall record and 4-3 in league play.
