SAN DIEGO, Calif.- The Pacific women's tennis team exited the WCC Tournament in the semifinal after San Diego curbed the Tigers mounting comeback in singles, taking the match 4-2. The Tigers finish tied for the third.
The Tigers started down early after the Toreros took the doubles point on courts one and three. Soon they faced a 3-0 deficit as San Diego captured two singles matches on courts one and two.
Freshman
Indiya McLeod struck back, muscling out a win on court four over Abigail Desiatnikov after taking the tiebreaker in her opening set. The freshman rattled off a 7(7)-6(1), 6-3 victory to get the Tigers on the board. Fifth year senior
Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle followed suit from court six, defeating Kristina Nordikyan 6-4, 6-3.
After falling in her first set, freshman
Milena Maiorova was within grasp of tying the match 0-6, 6-3, 5-4 but the Toreros took court three and her match went unfinished as the Toreros defeated the Tigers 4-2.
The Tigers end a historic season with new precedent after making their first ever debut in the WCC Tournament. They exit with a 14-7 record, the most wins by a Tiger team in nearly two decades.
