Tigers Season Reaches End in NIT Championship Quarterfinal

Bradenton, Fla.- A fantastic season comes to a close for the Pacific women's tennis team as the Tigers made their exit from the UTR Sports NIT Championship after a 4-2 loss to No. 2 seed West Virginia.

Senior Klara Kosan and junior Tomi Main started the day off for Pacific, grabbing a 6-4 win from court one after the Mountaineers took court three. West Virginia nabbed the doubles point after breaking through the 4-4 tie on court two.

In singles, the Tigers found a 3-0 match deficit after the Mountaineers struck on courts two and three. The four remaining courts went to three sets before Kosan got the Tigers on the board. Kosan chipped at lead after a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 victory on court one over WVU's Love-Star Alexis. The senior captain caps the season with 13 singles wins.

Freshman Milena Maiorova and senior Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle each won their opening sets before the Mountaineers forced a third. Freshman Indiya McLeod forced a third set after taking her second set 7-5 from Maja Dodik.

Maiorova bounced back to take her match 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 to pull the Tigers within one. She ended the season going unbeaten in her last five appearances, winning three matches.

The Mountaineers clinched the match 4-2 after a win on court four and Clydesdale-Eberle's match went unfinished. The fifth year senior wraps the year going unbeaten in her last six matches, taking four wins.

The Tigers highlight their impressive year with their first WCC tournament berth since rejoining the league in 2013 and first postseason tournament invitation since 2000.
