No. 21 Pacific to Play Azusa Pacific in GCC First Round

STOCKTON, Calif. – No. 21 Pacific women's water polo is the third seed in the Golden Coast Conference Championship and will play sixth-seeded Azusa Pacific in the first round at 10 a.m. on Friday at Sullivan Aquatic Center.

Pacific (15-9, 4-3 GCC) faces Azusa Pacific (15-12, 3-4 GCC) in the first round for the second straight year. Last season, the Tigers defeated the Cougars by a score of 14-10 to advance to the semifinals.

Pacific is 16-1 in the all-time series against Azusa Pacific. During the regular season this year, the Cougars handed the Tigers their first loss in the series, 14-8, on Feb. 29. 
Pacific had three players selected for GCC All-Conference. Leading the way is Dora Alaksza who was selected to First Team. The Budapest, Hungary native is leading the Tigers with 100 points on 84 goals and 16 assists along with 36 steals. Alaksza has scored a goal in every game this season. She notched a career-high 10 points on seven goals and three assists at Cal State East Bay on Mar. 14. Alaksza leads the GCC in total goals and goals per game (3.5). She became the first player in program history to be selected to the Cutino Award Watch List.

Junior Hila Futorian earned a spot on Honorable Mention. The Petah Tikvah, Israel native is the second leading scorer with 66 points on 40 goals and a team-leading 26 assists. Futorian has scored in 19 games this season and matched her career-high seven points and six goals at UC Davis on Feb. 11.

Freshman goalkeeper Maja Lizy Dulic joined Futorian on Honorable Mention and was also selected to the All-Freshman team. The Kecskemet, Hungary native has started in 21 games and made 169 saves in net while notching 17 steals. Dulic has produced eight double-figure performances in stops this season including a season-high 18 saves at San Diego State on Mar. 23. She is third in saves per game (8.0), fourth in total saves and fifth in save percentage (.506) in the GCC.

Alexandra Akritidou, a member of Honorable Mention, leads Azusa Pacific in scoring with 76 points on 46 goals and 30 assists. Goalkeeper Alex Airitam, who was also named to Honorable Mention, has tallied 153 saves and 30 steals in net.
