SAN DIEGO, Calif.- The Pacific men's tennis team opened its first conference tournament since 2018 with a 4-0 sweep over Portland in the first round. The Tigers advance to the semifinals for a rematch against Pepperdine.
The Tigers quickly got to work, clinching the doubles point behind wins on courts two and three. Sophomore

Christof Schaertlin Coffey cruised to the 6-3 victory from court three to give the Tigers the early advantage. The Pilots got one back after claiming the tiebreaker from court one before sophomore
Terence Das and freshman
Tommy Czaplinski grabbed the doubles point. The duo defeated the Pilots 7-5 from court two.
The team carried the momentum into singles, leaping out to a 3-0 lead after taking two singles courts. Junior
Justas Trainauskas struck first from court two, downing Portland's Nicolas Ocana 6-3, 6-2. Das followed suit with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Maxim Groysman from court four.
The Pilots took the Tigers to three sets on courts one and five, but Silva locked up the sweep behind a 7(8)-6(6), 6-3 win over Luka Vukovic on court three.
Eager to get a match back after the 4-3 upset at home, the Tigers anticipate another heated contest with Pepperdine. The Waves sit waiting in the semifinal after earning the first round bye. The Tigers and Waves go head-to-head for the second time in five days with tomorrow's match set for 10 a.m.
