STOCKTON, Calif.- Three different Tigers earned solo home runs in the 4-3 comeback victory over UC Davis at Bill Simoni Field on Tuesday evening.
"We've played a lot of tough one-run, extra inning games and we haven't had many go our way, but that was just a really great team win tonight," head coach
Brian Kolze shared after the win. "To get three solo home runs to keep us in the game and tie the game up was amazing. Vanessa [Strong] threw really well, as did Avery [Croxall] in relief. Bottom line, we found a way to compete all the way through, come back and get a great win against a team that has been great competition."
Sophomore
Olivia Silvestre led the Tigers after recording her second home run of her career this season. The left fielder extends her run streak to six, having scored at least one or more runs in her last six appearances.
Senior
Scarlett Lloyd recorded one run, one hit and 2 RBI for the Tigers, hitting her second home run of the season. Her sister,
Victoria Martinez Lloyd, shared a similar stat line to Silvestre, scoring her first career home run.
Leading from the circle was graduate student
Vanessa Strong. She pitched through 5.0 innings and faced 23 batters, striking out six while allowing six hits and three runs. Senior
Avery Croxall pitched the remaining 3.0 innings, facing ten batters, striking out two and didn't allow a single run.
Silvestre led off for the Tigers and got to scoring immediately after she blasted a homer to right center with a 1-0 count to cut Pacific's early deficit in half. The Aggies got a homer back themselves in the top of the third to get back their two run lead, but sisters Martinez Lloyd and Lloyd had other plans.
The freshman third baseman, Martinez Lloyd, rattled off her home run to slice the lead back to a run. Her sister, Lloyd, blasted her second homer of the season to tie the game 3-all. After seven innings, the Aggies faced a quick three outs in the top of the eighth. The Tigers got two in scoring position off an error and a wild pitch before pinch runner junior
Nikki Enriquez beat out the throw at home to score the go-ahead run to clinch the 4-3 win for the Tigers.
The Tigers snapped the Aggies seven game series winning streak over Pacific, while capturing their first win over UC Davis at home since 2016.
Pacific returns next week to host San Jose State for its final non conference opponent this season on Wednesday, April 10 at 4 p.m.
