STOCKTON, Calif. – Under the bright lights on Fireworks Night, the Pacific baseball team fell to LMU, 21-4, on Friday at Klein Family Field.
The Tigers (6-31, 1-9 WCC) collected four runs on seven hits while the Lions (16-23, 3-10 WCC) scored 21 runs on 17 hits.
Sophomore
Rylan Evans collected his second three-hit game of the season, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Junior
Jakob Guardado extended his on-base streak to nine consecutive games with a double and a run scored.
Junior
Ethan Shaver made the start for the Tigers, going 3.0 innings and allowing seven runs on seven hits while striking out two batters. Freshman
Gabe Camacho pitched a scoreless 1.2 innings of work in relief, striking out a pair of LMU hitters.
The Lions scored in every inning except the top of the second and ninth innings, taking a 3-0 lead in the game's opening frame.
The Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning as Evans smashed an RBI single off the opposing pitcher that allowed Guardado to score, making the score 12-1 at the time.
Evans also helped cap a three-run bottom of the ninth inning, hitting a double down the left field line that scored redshirt freshman Nico DeFazio and sophomore
Tony Otis. DeFazio had also doubled home a run prior to the Evans two-RBI double, accumulating to the final score of 21-4.
The Tigers return to action at 6 p.m. tomorrow to continue the three-game series against the Lions.
