No. 20 Pacific Ends Regular Season at Fresno State and CUI

STOCKTON, Calif. – No. 20 Pacific women's water polo wraps up the regular season with back to back games in southern California this weekend.

Pacific starts the slate at No. 9 Fresno State at 1 p.m. on Friday at Fresno State Aquatics Center. The Tigers will later play Concordia Irvine at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center.

Pacific (14-8, 3-2 GCC) ended the home portion with a 14-11 victory over California Baptist on Senior Day on Saturday, Apr. 6. Graduate student Hailey Williams led the way with a career-high seven points on a career-high six goals and one assist. Senior goalkeeper Megan Acosta collected eight saves in net along with two steals.

Sophomore Dora Alaksza is the Tigers' leading scorer with 92 points on 77 goals and 15 assists while tallying a team-leading 34 steals. The Budapest, Hungary native is the first Tiger to be named to the Cutino Award Watch List. Alaksza has scored in every game this season and registered a career-high seven goals at Cal State East Bay on Mar. 14. She leads the Golden Coast Conference in total goals and goals per game (3.5).

Junior Hila Futorian is the second leading scorer with 59 points on 36 goals and a team-leading 23 assists. The Petah Tikva, Israel native matched her career-high seven points and six goals in the win against UC Davis on Feb. 11. Futorian has scored goals in 17 out of 22 games this season.

Junior Addison McGowan (33 points on 15 goals and 18 assists), Williams (26 points on 24 goals and two assists) and freshman Ella Cowan (23 points on 10 goals and 13 assists) complete the top five scorers for Pacific.

Freshman goalkeeper Maja Lizy Dulic is fifth in saves per game (7.6) and sixth in total stops (144) and percentage (.493) in the GCC. The Kecskemet, Hungary native has started in 17 of 19 games this season in goal for the Tigers. Dulic has notched six double figure save performances with a season-high 18 stops at No. 23 San Diego State on Mar. 23.

Acosta has made four starts in seven games. The Los Angeles native is 5-0 in goal and registered 36 saves. Pacific will look for its first win against Fresno State since 2019.

Fresno State (16-7, 4-1 GCC) is ranked second among the GCC teams. The Bulldogs upset former No. 1 teams in No. 3 Stanford (11-10) and No. 4 USC (8-7) earlier this season. In conference play, Fresno State has defeated California Baptist (20-4), San Diego State (15-7), Concordia Irvine (14-7) and Azusa Pacific (15-9). Pacific earned wins against three of those teams.

The Bulldogs' top three scorers are registering 70+ points and are a part of the top 10 leaders in this category in the GCC. Abbey Simshauser leads the way with 78 points on 55 goals and 23 assists. Hailey Andress has 77 points on 62 goals and 15 assists while Brooke Ochoa is notching 71 points on 38 goals and 33 assists.

Goalkeeper Paula Nieto Jasny is ranked in the top five in the GCC in save percentage (third, .527), saves per game (third, 7.8) and total stops (fourth, 154).

Pacific has won all 12 games in the all-time series against Concordia Irvine (11-19, 0-5 GCC).

Tamsyn Evezard is the Golden Eagles' leading scorer with 83 points on 58 goals and 25 assists. Jaden Sota leads all goalkeepers with 204 saves and 25 steals.

Up next, Pacific prepares for the GCC Tournament which will be hosted by Santa Clara on Apr. 26 through 28 at Sullivan Aquatic Center.
