STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific men's tennis heads out to San Luis Obispo for its rescheduled match against Cal Poly and final non conference match of the season on Thursday, April 11. The contest kicks off a three match road stint for the Tigers that leads into next week. They conclude the weekend at No. 58 Santa Clara on Saturday, April 13 before heading to Saint Mary's on Tuesday.
Senior
Peter Alam leads the Tigers with a 10-0 singles record. After going 3-0 in his singles matches last week over LMU, Portland and then No. 13 San Diego, the senior captain grabbed the West Coast Conference's singles player of the week honor.
Alam and his doubles partner, junior
Justas Trainauskas, lead the Tigers with a 8-2 doubles record from court one. The tandem currently rank 60th in the country and have been in the ITA's doubles rankings since November.
As a collective, the Tigers are 61-20 in singles on the season. Senior
Andre Rodeia extended his match winning streak to four after going 2-0 against LMU and San Diego. Sophomore
Tiago Silva is also enjoying a four match winning streak after going 3-0 over the weekend. The sophomore clinched the match for the Tigers 4-3 against No. 13 San Diego, extending Pacific's historic match winning streak to 13, while grabbing Pacific's first win over the Toreros since rejoining the WCC.
The Tigers win over the Toreros the team broke through into the ITA rankings for the first time since 2016. They rank No. 47 in the country.
First up for the Tigers this week is Cal Poly. Pacific goes for its first win over the Mustangs since 2014, after defeating them 4-3 in San Luis Obispo. The Tigers then travel to No. 58 Santa Clara on Saturday. They last defeated the Broncos in Santa Clara in 2018 behind a 4-3 decision.
