SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Redshirt senior Rosie Schweizer highlighted Pacific women's basketball on the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team which was announced by the league on Wednesday.
The Canberra, Australia native was selected to First Team for the third consecutive year. Schweizer holds a 3.98 GPA and is pursuing her bachelor's degree in political science with minors in international studies and sustainability. She will graduate with department honors this year.
On the court, Schweizer has appeared in 26 games while making four starts. She is currently averaging 4.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Schweizer has scored in double figures three times this season and led the Tigers with a season-high 16 points during Senior Day against Santa Clara (Mar. 2). She also has been the leader in rebounds and blocks in three games.
To be considered for the All-Academic First Team, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team and in at least their second year at their school.
In addition to Schweizer, senior Kadie Deaton, junior Elizabeth Elliott, graduate students Madelene Ennis, Cecilia Holmberg and sophomore Sydney Ward were selected to honorable mention.
"Our entire team has been committed to excelling on and off the floor this year," head coach Bradley Davis said. "Huge congrats to Rosie, Liz Elliott, Kadie, Ceci and Syd. They've truly exemplified what it means to be student-athletes. Each of them are highly competitive on the floor and intently driven off the floor. This is a well-deserved recognition and they each represent our program and University of the Pacific in the best of ways."
Pacific is the No. 5 seed in the WCC Tournament in Las Vegas and will take on the winner of the No. 8 San Diego/No. 9 Pepperdine game in the first round at noon on Friday.
