STOCKTON, Calif. – On a rainy day, the Pacific baseball team fell to San Diego, 17-4, on Friday night at Klein Family Field.
After a lengthy rain delay before the game, the Tigers (5-21, 1-4 WCC) and Toreros (15-10, 3-2 WCC) combined for 21 runs and 29 hits with the visitors doing most of the damage at the plate.
Three Tigers recorded multi-hit performances with sophomore
Jake Tandy setting the tone with a 2-for-4 night with a pair of RBIs.
Redshirt junior
Josh Souza made the start on the mound, pitching 2.0 innings and allowing three earned runs on three hits.
The Tigers struck first in the bottom of the first as Tandy hit a two-RBI double with the bases loaded that brought home sophomore
Rylan Evans and sophomore
Kaden Petersen.
The Toreros responded with a three-run top of the second and didn't look back from there.
With San Diego up by four in the bottom of the third, the Tigers chipped away, scoring two runs on RBI singles from senior
Chase Graves and sophomore
Tony Otis, making the score 6-4.
The Toreros continued their big night at the plate, scoring in every inning except the first and eighth innings to hold on to a 17-4 victory.
Senior
Jacob Weiss caught three Toreros trying to steal bases, highlighting his great defensive night behind the plate.
Pacific returns to action at 1 pm tomorrow to wrap up the three-game series against San Diego.
