STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific men's tennis team returns to the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center for the first time since early March, hoping to extend one of its best starts in program history as the Tigers host UC Riverside on Thursday, March 28 at noon and LMU on Tuesday, April 2 at 2 p.m.
Pacific's match against LMU, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been moved to Tuesday to account for bad weather set to hit Stockton over the weekend.
The Tigers captured their first conference win of the season over the weekend, downing San Francisco 4-3. They currently tie San Diego, Santa Clara, Saint Mary's and Pepperdine for first place in the WCC standings after starting 10-1. Their nine-match winning streak is the longest active win streak in the conference.
Pacific is led behind its seniors
Peter Alam and
Ran Amar who combine for a 15-1 singles record on the season. Alam is unbeaten at 7-0, including perfect marks from courts one and two. Amar clinched the match for the Tigers over the weekend to extend his unbeaten streak to seven matches.
The Tigers boast a combined 44-16 record in singles while holding a 18-9 doubles record so far this year.
Leading the Tigers in doubles is the No. 38 ranked tandem of Alam and junior
Justas Trainauskas, who are 7-1 together playing from court one. They pair haven't lost since January and are currently enjoying a six match unbeaten streak.
First up this week for the Tigers is UC Riverside. The Tigers are 9-1 over the Highlanders since 2006, while winning the last eight straight matches. The two teams last met in Stockton in 2022, with the Tigers edging out the Highlanders 4-3 at home.
The Tigers play their second WCC match of the season with the LMU Lions coming to town. Pacific is 5-6 against the Lions dating to 2009. The Tigers last beat LMU 4-2 in Stockton in 2022.
The Lions currently sit in sixth in the WCC with a 1-1 record in conference matches, while holding a 6-7 record overall.
Pacific looks to roll through two more matches to maintain its active winning streak, while looking to pull away from the pack in the WCC standings.
