STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific softball team revisited both Iowa and Sacramento State during the final day of its round robin tournament at home, but the Tigers fell in both contests with the Hawkeyes defeating them 10-1 and the Hornets 8-3.
"Not a great weekend for us," head coach
Brian Kolze shared. "We put in a lot of great effort and I think we had some pretty good individual performances, but we just didn't execute in all three phases of the game to be successful. We'll just go back to work on Monday and try to clean some things up."
Sophomore
Olivia Silvestre led the Tigers against the Hawkeyes with two hits in three at bats. Fellow sophomore
Amanda Bricker scored the lone run against Iowa while recording a hit in one appearance at the plate.
Three pitchers saw action against the Hawkeyes, with senior
Avery Croxall getting her second starting nod of the season. She pitched through 2.0 innings and faced 15 batters. She struck out two, while allowing three runs and five hits.
Senior
Amiyah Aponte and junior
Desiree Smith pitched through the remaining 3.0 innings. Aponte came in for 2.0 innings and faced 12 batters. She allowed four hits and four runs. Smith faced eight batters in the final inning, striking out one and allowing one hit.
Four different Tigers registered hits against the Hornets in their second game of the day. Junior
Delaney Scully and sophomore
Jordan Hayes accounted for two of them, while scoring a combined two runs. Junior
Nikki Enriquez recorded the final run of the evening after an error from Sacramento State.
Junior
Kyla Eck opened Pacific's scoring against the Hornets after her base hit drew in two runners. She led the Tigers with 2 RBI.
Three pitchers saw action against Sacramento State, with senior
Scarlett Lloyd getting the start from the circle. She pitched through 4.0 innings and faced 20 batters, striking out one while allowing two runs and five hits. Freshman
Justice Alcaraz came in for 2.0 innings and faced 13 batters, while allowing six runs and five hits. Graduate student
Vanessa Strong pitched through the final inning facing three batters and striking out all three.
The Tigers head out on the road for a midweek contest against Fresno State on Wednesday, March 20 before returning to Bill Simoni Field to host Portland State for a three game series.
