No. 21 Pacific to Host Santa Clara on Saturday

STOCKTON, Calif. – No. 21 Pacific women's water polo welcomes Santa Clara for a Golden Coast Conference matchup at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Chris Kjeldsen Pool at the Douglass M. Eberhardt Aquatics Center.
 
Pacific (11-8, 0-2 GCC) recently swept the three-game series against Cal State East Bay with an 18-9 victory on Thursday. Sophomore Dora Alaksza tallied a career-high seven goals and three assists while registering four steals. Senior goalkeeper Megan Acosta made nine stops in net.
 
Alaksza is the Tigers' scoring leader with 74 points on 64 goals and 10 assists. The Budapest, Hungary native also leads the team with 31 steals. Alaksza was recently named to the Cutino Award Watch List on Thursday. She leads the GCC in total goals and goals per game (3.2).
 
Junior Hila Futorian is second for Pacific with 53 points on 33 goals and 20 assists. Junior Addison McGowan is tallying 26 points on 12 goals and 14 assists. Freshman Ella Cowan is leading all freshmen on the team with 21 points on nine goals and 12 assists.
 
Acosta is 3-0 when playing in goal this season and has tallied 21 saves. The Los Angeles native has appeared in six games and made three starts.
 
Pacific holds a 10-game winning streak against Santa Clara (5-13, 1-1 GCC). Last season, the Tigers earned a 16-5 win against the Broncos on the road. Futorian and junior Szamira Koppany had three goals each.
 
Chloe Morrison leads Santa Clara with 31 points on 17 goals and 14 assists. Goalkeeper Liyara Senadheera has made 150 saves in net along with nine steals. She leads the GCC in total saves and is tied for second in saves per game (8.3).
 
Up next, Pacific travels to San Diego State for a road contest at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
