Pacific Welcomes Santa Clara for Senior Day

STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific women's basketball hosts the regular season finale against Santa Clara at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Alex G. Spanos Center.
 
The game also marks Senior Day for Kadie Deaton, Madelene Ennis, Cecilia Holmberg, Josephine Millard and Rosie Schweizer. The seniors will be honored 15 minutes before the game.
 
Pacific (16-12, 8-7 WCC) is coming off an 82-62 win against San Diego on Thursday. Deaton led the way with 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Juniors Anaya James (15 points, season-high 10 assists) and Elizabeth Elliott (14 points, 10 rebounds) registered double doubles.
 
Elliott is leading the Tigers with 13.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. The Inglewood, Calif native is currently second in the West Coast Conference with a .610 shooting percentage. Elliott has four double doubles on the season and 10 in her career.
 
Senior Liz Smith is second on the team with 12.4 points and 3.2 assists per game. The Dallas native has scored in double figures in 15 games this year. Smith is also the team leader and in the top five in the league in free throws with 97-of-114 (.851).
 
Holmberg is Pacific's leading scorer in conference games with 13.4 points per game while averaging 12.1 overall. The Bjarred, Sweden native has tallied double digits in 18 games this season and 34 in her career. Holmberg has led the team in scoring three times this year, racking up 20 or more points in those contests. She notched a career-high 25 points against Portland on Feb. 15.
 
James is leading Pacific with 5.8 assists per game and her 161 dishouts are the program's sixth best in a single season. The Inglewood, Calif. native is second in the WCC in assists and has led the team the last six games in this category. James is also scoring 11.9 points per game.
 
Deaton is registering 11.0 points per game while leading the Tigers with 1.7 steals per game. The Wausau, Wis. native is tied for third in the WCC in steals.
 
In the first meeting of the season on Jan. 6, Pacific was edged by Santa Clara 80-77. James led the Tigers with a season-high 23 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
 
Both teams have split the regular season series the last three years and earned wins on their home courts in the last two. In last season's meeting at the Spanos Center, Pacific defeated Santa Clara by a score of 83-73.
 
The Broncos (23-7, 11-4 WCC) are third behind the Tigers in scoring offense (70.4 ppg) and field goal percentage (.436) in the WCC.
 
Santa Clara leads the league in free throw percentage with .816 (338-414). Tess Heal is the conference's individual leader in the category with .875 (161-184). She is also second in the WCC in scoring with 18.9 points per game.
 
Up next, Pacific awaits its opponent for the second round of the WCC Tournament which takes place on Mar. 7-12 at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
 
 
NOTES
-This is the 67th meeting between Pacific and Santa Clara.
 
-The Tigers and Broncos are two of the top three teams in the WCC in scoring offense. Pacific is second behind Gonzaga with 71.9 points per game. Santa Clara is third in the category with 70.4 points per game.
 
-The Tigers are 11-4 at the Spanos Center this season. The .733 home winning percentage is the best since the 2012-13 season.
 
-Pacific is 14-2 when leading at halftime and 12-6 when tallying 70 or more points.
 
-The Tigers are ranked in the top 100 in the country in five statistical categories with their highest being 30th in assists per game (16.8).
 
-Three Tigers are nationally ranked statistically. Elliott is 11th in field goal percentage (.610). James is 14th in total assists (161) while her average (5.8) is 16th and assist/turnover ratio (2.12) is 46th. Smith is ranked 52nd in free throw percentage (.851).
 
-Three Tigers continue to move closer to reaching 1,000 career points: James (995), Elliott (987), Smith (968)
