STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific women's basketball heads to the Bay Area for a rematch with San Francisco at 2 p.m. on Saturday at The War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
The game will be livestreamed on ESPN+ with George Devine and Jessica Blodgett on the call.
Pacific (13-9, 5-4 WCC) looks to split the series with San Francisco (10-13, 6-4 WCC) for the second straight year. In the last meeting, the Tigers dropped their home contest to the Dons by a score of 81-68 on Jan. 13. Junior Anaya James (18), senior Kadie Deaton (17) and redshirt senior Rosie Schweizer (10) scored in double figures for Pacific.
The Tigers are looking to rebound after back-to-back road losses at Portland (85-72) and #19 Gonzaga (104-39). Junior Elizabeth Elliott recorded her fourth 20+ point performance of the season with a team-high 22 points against the Pilots. Sophomore Lauren Glazier registered her second double-digit performance of her career with 10 points against the Zags.
Pacific holds the second best scoring offense (95th nationally) in the West Coast Conference with 70.9 points per game. The Tigers have scored 60 or more points in 21 of their 22 contests this season.
Elliott currently leads Pacific with 14.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. The Inglewood, Calif. native is currently ranked sixth in scoring and 11th in boards per game in the WCC. Elliott is second in the league and 17th in the country with a .597 field goal percentage.
Senior Liz Smith is back after missing the last six games for the Tigers. The Dallas native is second on the team with 13.1 points and 3.6 assists per game. Smith is currently eighth in the WCC in both categories. She has tallied 50 double figure performances in her career and has scored 20 or more points in eight of them. This season, Smith had a season-high 24 points against UC Santa Barbara on Dec. 8. In addition, she is the team leader and second in the WCC in free throws with 76-of-87 (.874) at the charity stripe.
James and graduate student Cecilia Holmberg are averaging 11.5 points per game apiece. James is Pacific's leader and second in the conference in assists with 5.4 per game. The Inglewood, Calif. native led the Tigers 14 times this season in dishouts. James matched her season-high nine assists against Saint Mary's on Jan. 25.
Holmberg is back after missing Pacific's last two games. The Bjarred, Sweden native has notched 11 double-digit scoring performances this year. Holmberg was the leading scorer in the Tigers' wins at San Diego and Pepperdine. She notched 20 or more points in both contests.
Deaton is the fifth player in double figures with 10.8 points per game. The Wausau, Wis. native is the team leader and fifth in the WCC in steals with 1.7 per game. Deaton led Pacific in steals in eight games this season. She had a career-high five steals in Pacific's win at Long Beach State on Dec. 16. Deaton has racked up 10 double-digit point performances and was the leading scorer in two contests this year. She registered her first 20-point performance against Loyola Marymount on Jan. 11.
San Francisco is the WCC leader rebounding with 38.1 boards per game. In addition, the Dons are first in the league with 25.9 defensive rebounds per game. San Francisco has two of its players who are in the top five in scoring in the WCC. Jasmine Gayles is averaging 17.8 points per game while Debora dos Santos has 14.5 per game. Dos Santos is also the conference leader in rebounds with 10.8 per game.
Up next, the Pacific returns to Alex G. Spanos Center for the next two games beginning with Portland at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
NOTES
-This marks the 52nd meeting between Pacific and San Francisco.
-The Tigers have won seven road games against the Dons, including last year's meeting 67-51 at The War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
-Pacific has three players nearing 1,000 points in their careers. They include junior Anaya James (913), junior Elizabeth Elliott (912) and senior Liz Smith (906).
-Elliott (Dec. 18) and graduate student Cecilia Holmberg (Jan. 23) were the two Tigers selected as WCC Player of the Week this season.
-In national ranks, Elliott is 17th in field goal percentage (.597). James is 28th in assists per game, 33rd in total dish outs and 80th in assist/turnover ratio.
-Pacific is ranked in the top 100 in the country in five statistical categories with its highest being 30th in assists per game (17.0).
