No. 17 Pacific Begins GCC Play at Azusa Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. – No. 17 Pacific women's water polo starts Golden Coast Conference play at Azusa Pacific at 3 p.m. on Thursday at Citrus College Aquatic Center.
 
Pacific (8-3, 0-0 GCC) is off to a great start this season. The Tigers recently won three of their four games at the Bronco Invitational on Feb. 16-18. Pacific defeated Brown (8-6), No. 21 San Jose State (8-7) and Cal State Monterey Bay (17-6).
 
Sophomore Dora Alaksza is Pacific's leading scorer with 42 points on 36 goals and six assists. The Budapest, Hungary native currently leads the GCC in goals per game (3.3) and is second in points per game (3.8).
 
Junior Hila Futorian is second for the Tigers with 36 points on 23 goals and 13 assists. Junior Addison McGowan is registering 20 points on eight goals and 12 assists.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Maja Lizzy Dulic holds a 7-3 record in net while collecting 77 saves and notching five steals. The Kecskemet, Hungary native is third in goals against average (8.16), fourth in saves per game (7.0) and fifth in total stops in the GCC.
 
Pacific holds an undefeated 16-0 record in the all-time series against Azusa Pacific (8-7, 0-1 GCC). Last season, the Tigers defeated the Cougars 19-8 at home and 14-10 in the quarterfinals of the GCC championship.
 
Azusa Pacific started conference play against Cal Baptist and came up short by a score of 12-11. The Cougars have picked up wins against Cal State Monterey Bay (16-6) and UC Merced (22-2). Two opponents the Tigers also won against.
 
Skylar Ford leads Azusa Pacific in scoring with 46 points on 17 goals and 29 assists.
 
Following the contest, Pacific will have a quick turnaround as it will compete at the Pomona-Pitzer Convergence. The Tigers will play No. 22 LIU at 12:45 p.m. and Mount St. Mary's at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Pacific will later face DIII No. 6 La Verne at 8 a.m. and No. 4 USC at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday.
