STOCKTON, Calif- The Pacific men's tennis team travels to Southern California, highlighting its weekend at the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship. Prior to the tournament, the Tigers (5-1) will play a neutral site match against Ball State on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 9 a.m.
Thursday's contest is the first on court meeting between the two programs in their recent history. The Tigers are 1-0 in neutral site matches this year, while the Cardinals (5-4) play their first this season.
Pacific is led behind its No. 19 ranked doubles tandem senior
Peter Alam and
Justas Trainauskas. The two are 4-1 this season together and are currently enjoying a three match unbeaten streak.
Aiding them in pursuit of doubles victories are senior
Ran Amar and freshman
Christof Schaertlin Coffey. The pair are 2-1 since they debuted against UC San Diego the second week of February. Alongside them are sophomores
Terence Das and
Tiago Silva, who've boast a 4-2 doubles record this season.
Alam and Das are each maintaining unbeaten records in their singles matches. Alam captured his fourth win this season after this past weekend, while Das claimed his fifth in a long winded battle against Sacramento State.
After their match on Thursday morning, the Tigers remain in the area through the weekend as they embark on the three day Pacific Coast Doubles Championship held from Friday, March 1 through Sunday, March 3.
The tournament style event features programs from all over California, while featuring guests such as Ball State and Villanova. The likes of USC, Pepperdine, San Diego, San Diego State, UCLA and California will play alongside Pacific. Winners are determined in the best two out of three sets, with a champion to be crowned on Sunday.
