STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific softball team closed out its Libby Matson tournament falling to Nevada 15-3 in six innings.
Junior
Delaney Scully led the Tigers with one hit, one run and 2 RBI in two at bats after hammering a home run to left center at the bottom of the third.
Five pitchers saw action in Sunday's contest, with freshman
Justice Alcaraz getting her second start from the circle. Through 2.0 innings pitched, she allowed four runs, three hits and a strikeout in ten at bats. Junior
Desiree Smith came and saw seven batters through 0.2 innings pitched.
Senior
Amiyah Aponte took to the circle after, allowing two hits, a run and a strikeout in six at bats, before senior
Scarlett Lloyd entered for 1.1 innings. Senior
Avery Croxall closed out delivering two strikeouts, while allowing two hits and no runs in four at bats.
The Tigers were stumped through two innings and found themselves in an early deficit entering the bottom of the third. Sophomore
Olivia Silvestre took to the plate and delivered a double down the right line, to set up a scoring opportunity for the Tigers. Junior
Emily Budelli grounded out, which advanced Silvestre to third.
An error on Nevada's first basemen allowed senior
Rian Dirmeyer to reach first, while bringing in Silvestre for the first score of the day for the Tigers. With two outs, Scully took to the plate and, with a 2-0 count, she homered out to left center field, adding two more runs for Pacific.
The Tigers return for their fourth and final tournament this year, traveling to Grand Canyon next week. The event features New Mexico, Toledo, Montana and host Grand Canyon alongside Pacific and lasts from Friday, March 1 through Sunday, March 3.
