Tigers Drop Contests with Utah Tech, CSUN

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.- The Pacific softball team dropped its final two games of the Matador Diamond Classic, falling to both Utah Tech 7-6 in extra innings and host CSUN 8-0.

The Tigers were led behind sophomore Olivia Silvestre, who tied a season high two runs against the Trailblazers. She leads all Tigers with six runs, ten hits and a .417 batting average on the season.

Senior Reagan Hamilton continues to draft up scoring opportunities for Pacific, leading all Tigers with 6 RBI. Against Utah Tech, she brought in Silvestre with a sacrifice fly to center field to put the Tigers on the board at the bottom of the first.

Junior Delaney Scully went for a season high 11 putouts against Utah Tech maintaining a perfect fielding percentage through 52 chances in nine games. She tied sophomore Jordan Hayes with 2 RBI a piece against the Trailblazers. Hayes knocked a single to center field which led Pacific to take the 3-1 lead after the first inning. Scully struck in the bottom of the fourth after doubling to right center to bring in Silvestre and junior Talissa Montez.

In a close contest with the Trailblazers, the Tigers scored the game tying run at the bottom of the sixth. After shutting down Utah Tech through the top of the seventh, the run proved pivotal in forcing extra innings. The Traiblazers broke through at the top of the eighth, sealing the game 7-6.

Pacific's bats cooled against CSUN in its second game. Unable to counter the Matadors after they scored five runs in the first, the Tigers fell 8-0 in five innings.
