Pacific to Compete at Bronco Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. – No. 13 Pacific women's water polo looks to keep the win streak going at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara on Feb. 16-18 at Sullivan Aquatic Center.
 
Pacific (5-2) begins the tournament against Marist at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will then play back-to-back games against Brown at 9:40 a.m. and No. 16 San Jose State at 4:40 p.m. on Saturday. Pacific concludes the weekend against CSUMB at 4:45 p.m. on Sunday.
 
All games will be live streamed on Santa Clara All-Access.
 
 Tigers moved up four spots from No. 17 to 13 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association poll on Wednesday.
 
Last weekend, Pacific swept all three of their contests in the Aggie Invite. The Tigers dominated against Cal State East Bay (13-8) and UC Merced (20-4) on Saturday. Sophomore Dora Alaksza and graduate student Hailey Williams notched four goals apiece against the Pioneers. Williams' four goals were a season high. Freshman Lily Van Putten registered the first four goals of her career against the Bobcats.
 
Pacific later earned a 13-10 victory against No. 14 UC Davis. Junior Hila Futorian, who was selected as this week's Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week, had a performance as she matched her career-high seven points and six goals.
 
Alaksza leads the Tigers with 30 points on 26 goals and four assists along with 12 steals. The Budapest, Hungary native is also the leader in the Golden Coast Conference and is fifth nationally in goals (3.7) and points per game (4.3). Alaksza is also tied for third in goals and steals per game (1.7, seventh nationally), fifth in points and seventh in steals in the league.
 
Futorian is second in scoring with 25 points on 17 goals and eight assists. The Petah Tikva, Israel native is third in points per game (3.6) while tied for fourth in goals per game (2.4) and eighth for total goals in the GCC.
 
Freshman Maja Lizy Dulic has made an impact since being named a starting goalkeeper for Pacific. The Kecskemet, Hungary native has tallied 49 saves and notched five steals. In the GCC, Dulic is second in saves overall and per game (7.0, ninth nationally), fourth in goal against average (8.84, eighth nationally) and eighth in save percentage (.454).
 
 
Marist (6-10) and Brown (4-4) are two of three teams receiving votes in the CWPA poll. The Red Foxes are led in scoring by Paige Neagle who has 22 points on 20 goals and two assists. Ella Palmer is the Bears' leader with 21 goals.
 
The Tigers hold a five-game winning streak against Marist and will look for their first win against Brown since 2011.
 
Pacific earned the last two wins against San Jose State (4-4). The Tigers defeated the Spartans by a score of 10-7 at the Aggie Invite in 2023.
 
San Jose State is currently riding a three-game winning streak and most recently defeated Marist 12-8. Darcy Spark leads the Spartans with 17 points on 15 goals and two assists.
 
Pacific has won the last four meetings against Cal State Monterey Bay. The Sea Otters are led by Autumn Day with 19 points on 12 goals and seven assists.
 
Following the Bronco Invitational, the Tigers begin GCC play at Azusa Pacific at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
