WBB Preview vs. SMC & WSU 2024

Pair of Home Games Take Women’s Basketball into New Year

STOCKTON, Calif. – As 2024 comes to a close, the Pacific women's basketball program welcomes both Saint Mary's and Washington State to the Alex G. Spanos Center for a pair of West Coast Conference clashes on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Monday at 6 p.m.

The Tigers (5-7, 1-1 WCC) swept last season's series with Saint Mary's (6-5, 2-0 WCC) in two low-scoring affairs, grinding out a 60-45 win in Stockton and 60-57 win in Moraga. Senior Elizabeth Elliott enjoyed a lot of success against the Gaels last season, averaging 21.0 points per game while fellow senior Anaya James was a force in the other facets of the game averaging five rebounds, seven assists and 3.5 steals per game.

Pacific holds a slight 11-9 series lead when playing at the Alex G. Spanos Center and has won the past four meetings overall.

Against Washington State (6-6, 1-0 WCC), the Tigers are getting their first look at the Cougars since 1989 and playing host for the first time since 1983. Pacific has won both meetings in Stockton and are tied 1-1 as conference opponents dating back to both teams stay in the NorPac Conference.

Pacific has a couple connections to Washington State as both associate head coach Amy Starr and assistant coach Jovana Subasic played their undergrad careers with the Cougars.

In Pacific's last outing against Portland, both Elliott and James reached the 1,200-point milestone and became the 17th and 18th players in program history to achieve that feat.

Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
