Men’s Basketball Begins WCC Play with Road Games at Saint Mary’s, San Diego

MORAGA, Calif. – Opening West Coast Conference action on the road, the Pacific men's basketball program will head to Saint Mary's for a 5 p.m. game Saturday at UCU Pavilion, followed by a 7 p.m. Monday contest against San Diego at Jenny Craig Pavilion.
 
The Tigers (5-9) are looking to win their conference opener for the first time since the 2020-21 season when they beat Santa Clara 79-58 at home. The last time Pacific won their conference opener on the road was the prior season when it knocked off Pepperdine 59-56 on Jan. 2, 2020.
 
Pacific's last win over Saint Mary's (10-3) came in a four overtime thriller 107-99 on Jan. 4, 2020. The Tigers are going for their first road win at Saint Mary's since Dec. 9, 1989.
 
Senior Elias Ralph has six double doubles on the year, which ranks eighth in the country. He's tallied back-to-back double-doubles on two separate occasions this year. Ralph is the team's leading scorer (17.3 ppg) and ranks top-five in the WCC in scoring, rebounding, offensive rebounding, field goal percentage and blocks.
 
Three of Pacific's top-four leading scorers are Canadian. It includes sophomore Elijah Fisher who is second on the team in scoring and also top-five in the conference with 16.0 points per game. Fisher has logged 40 minutes three times. Junior Jefferson Koulibaly averages 7.2 points per game and shoots .440 (22-50) from three-point range.
 
Junior Lamar Washington ranks top-10 in the nation in assists with 6.6 per game. Washington also scores in double-figures with 11.4 points per outing.
 
Saint Mary's will look to shake-off a 75-68 defeat to an 11-1 Utah State team in its last outing. The Gaels have wins this year over Utah, Nebraska, USC, UTSA, Cal Poly, Akron, Towson, Merrimack and Chattanooga.
 
Like Pacific, Saint Mary's also has a student-athlete with six double doubles on the year in Paulius Murauskas who averages 13.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Augustas Marciulionis is the team's leading scorer with 14.6 points per outing, while Luke Barrett leads the nation in minutes per game with 37:55.
 
San Diego (3-9) has victories over Boston University, Idaho and Marian. All three of USD's wins have come at home. Pacific is 16-12 all-time against the Toreros.
 
Both games can be watched on ESPN+ and heard live for free on Fox Sports 1280 AM with Zack Bayrouty on the calls.

NOTES
- The Tigers rank third in the West Coast Conference and 77th in the nation in rebounding with 38.6 per game. Ralph is the team's leading rebounder with 8.1 per game.

- The WCC is currently the seventh ranked conference in the country in the KenPom, the highest ranking the WCC has held as a conference since the inception of the KenPom in 1997. The WCC garners six teams in the top 76 in KenPom for the first time since the inception of the metric.
 
- Pacific's last road win came on Nov. 10, 2023 when it beat Cal 87-79.
 
- Four of Pacific's five wins this year have come from when the opposition has been held to under 33 percent from three-point range.
 
- The Tigers are 4-0 this year when they score at least 80 points.
 
- Pacific made a recent addition to its roster with the signing of freshman Amare Campbell, who is eligible to play. Campbell was a two-time All-Conference selection at Etiwanda HS.
