SEATTLE – Coming off a win on opening night, Pacific women's basketball will visit Washington on Thursday at 6 p.m. from the Alaska Airline Arena.
The Pacific (1-0) defense clamped down on Stanislaus State in the opener, forcing 30 Warrior turnovers in Pacific's highest total forced since Nov. 21, 2019, against Weber State. With those 30 turnovers, the Tigers turned them into 35 points while only allowing Stanislaus State to convert 14 Pacific turnovers into only three points.
Senior
Elizabeth Elliott was highly featured in the team's offense, registering 14 points and 7 rebounds in only 13 minutes of action. Graduate
Liz Smith and senior
Anaya James were both effective facilitators, each notching eight assists and were the only pair of teammates in the country to each dish out eight assists in a game this season.
With the win, head coach
Bradley Davis drew closer to attaining the title of winningest head coach in program history, sitting only 10 wins back of second place Lynne Roberts, his predecessor, and 15 back of Melissa Taketa for the top spot.
Against the Huskies last season, James flirted with a double-double by leading the Tigers in both scoring and rebounding (16 points, 8 rebounds) while also contributing a team high five assists. Smith scored 15 points on 3-for-10 shooting but shot 7-for-8 from the free throw line.
Tomorrow's game will be streamed on the Big Ten Plus.
