STOCKTON, Calif. – Wrapping up a day with five home athletic events around the Stockton campus, the Pacific men's soccer program put together a spirited effort but fell short, 1-0, to No. 4 San Diego Saturday at Knoles Field.
The Tigers (2-8-4, 0-5-1 WCC) battled all night defensively, looking to carry out a tough task against the fourth-ranked Toreros (12-1-2, 6-0 WCC), who came away with the result.
Pacific manufactured two shots on goal with one coming from freshman
Bele Alomerovic and another from junior
Jacob Heisner.
Senior
Joshua Moya earned the start in goal, totaling four saves in the effort at his end.
Six Tigers played the full length of the match in Moya, senior
Emmanuel Obiefuna, graduate student
Javier Chavez, junior
Luca Baltzer, junior
Matteo Carbone and graduate student
Ignacio Flores III.
San Diego found a late goal in the 68th minute off a header redirection that just squeaked past Moya for the game's only tally.
The Tigers turn their attention to the road finale, heading to Gonzaga next Saturday at 6 pm.
