Men’s Soccer Hosts Santa Clara Saturday

STOCKTON, Calif. - Following a hard-fought 1-1 draw at No. 2 Stanford on Monday, the Pacific men's soccer program returns to West Coast Conference play, hosting Santa Clara Saturday at 7 pm at Knoles Field.

The Tigers (2-6-4, 0-3-1 WCC) look to carry momentum over from an impressive road showing against the second-ranked team in the country, beginning the second half of WCC action against the Broncos (3-6-3, 0-2-2 WCC).

Freshman Ezekiel Padilla and fifth year Vinzent Zingel set the pace for the Pacific offense with two goals apiece. Padilla has two goals in his last four games and leads the Tigers with 17 shot attempts.

Freshman Zion Vaughn scored his first collegiate goal in the 1-1 draw against Stanford. Vaughn, who played a season-high 68 minutes in the effort, found the back of the net after a header by junior Luca Baltzer found Vaughn in the box for the game's opening goal.

Baltzer has played every minute on the pitch for Pacific and is tied for first on the team in scoring with a goal and two assists through 12 games.

Senior Joshua Moya has earned the starting assignment in goal all 12 games this season, posting a 1.42 goals against average and a .770 save percentage. Moya has allowed one goal or fewer in seven starts this season.

Santa Clara heads to Stockton after dropping a road contest against No. 9 San Diego by a 2-1 score a week ago. The Broncos are led offensively by Tyler Tipton, who has a team-best four goals on nine shots on target.

Pacific and Santa Clara meet for the 11th time in the series history. The two teams battled to a 0-0 draw in 2022 at Knoles Field.

The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with a kick-off set for 7 pm.
