Diaz, Wernli Set Personal Bests at Bronco Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Senior Beatriz Diaz and junior Emily Wernli earned personal records as the Pacific women's cross country team finished in eighth place out of 14 teams Saturday at the Bronco Invitational at Baylands Park.
 
The Tigers earned 208 points with its nine participating running in the women's 6k race.
 
"It was a solid day and big personal record by Emily and Beatriz," head coach Josh Jones said. "Our runners looked and felt strong. We're looking forward to running back at home very soon."
 
Wernli set a personal best with a time of 22:41.9, finishing in the top half of the individuals. Diaz broke her previous best time, running the 6k with a 27:28.1.
 
Sophomore Valeria Espinoza was the second Tiger to finish, collecting a time of 24:11.2. Senior Anahi Avila was right behind Espinoza with a 24:21.6. 
 
Senior Dalee Higgins and senior Sophia Livingston finished under the 25-minute mark with a 24:44.3 and 24:48.1, respectively. 
 
The Tigers look ahead to hosting West Coast Conference championships on Nov. 2 in Lodi, California.
