Men’s Soccer Heads South for WCC Match at LMU

LOS ANGELES – The Pacific men's soccer team travels to Southern California, taking on LMU at 4 pm on Saturday at Sullivan Field.

The Tigers (2-5-3, 0-2-1 WCC) hosted their first West Coast Conference match of the season last Wednesday, battling to a 2-2 draw against Portland. The Lions (4-3-3, 1-0-1 WCC).

Freshman Ezekiel Padilla has scored a goal in two straight contests for the Tigers, giving him a pair of goals on the season. Padilla utilized a free kick in the 85th minute to gift Pacific the game-tying goal in the 2-2 result against the Pilots. Padilla has six shots on goal, which ranks second on the team.

Fifth year Vinzent Zingel also has a pair of goals on three shots on target. Zingel collected his first multi-goal performance of his collegiate career, earning a brace in a 2-0 win over UC Riverside.

Junior Jose Maria Barrera leads the Tigers with 16 shot attempts. The Stockton, California native has tallied one goal, which came in the home opener in the 1-0 win against UC Davis.

Senior Joshua Moya has started every game in goal for Pacific, totaling 44 saves, which is second among WCC goalkeepers. Moya's three shutouts are tied for first in the conference.

LMU opened up WCC action with a 1-0 victory at home and then earned a 1-1 draw at Saint Mary's last weekend. Like the Tigers, the Lions played against UC Riverside and CSU Northridge with the Lions dropping both of those contests. Eight different Lions have scored a goal with Ismail Nieves leading the way with two.

Pacific and LMU battled to a 1-1 draw the last time the two programs met in 2023. In that game, Moya made six saves in the effort defensively.

The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with a 4 pm kick-off.
