Men's Tennis Picked Fourth in WCC Preseason Poll

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Pacific men's tennis was selected to finish fourth in the West Coast Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll, as announced by the conference this morning.

Pacific's projected fourth place finish received 42 points, putting the Tigers just seven points behind third place Santa Clara. San Diego claimed the top spot with 62 points and six first place votes, while the 2023 Champion, Pepperdine, claimed second with 59 points and three first place votes.

It's the highest selection of a Tiger team since Pacific rejoined the league in 2013. The previous highest was a fifth place preseason nod in 2017.

Behind the Tigers were Portland (33), Gonzaga (31), Loyola Marymount (24), Saint Mary's (14) and San Francisco (10).

A year ago, Pacific was voted to finish sixth in the conference. After an impressive fall showing this year, including a run to the 2023 ITA Fall Nationals, the Tigers built a formidable resume as one of the leagues competitors, demonstrating the positive momentum the program has seen in the past few seasons.

"Our goal has always been to improve and raise the bar year after year," head coach Robin Goodman shared, "Although these polls recognize that progression, our focus remains on the now, and how we can best prepare for our first match against Seattle."

Pacific opens its 2024 season on Saturday, Jan. 20 in Eugene, Ore., where the Tigers will face Seattle University at 10 a.m.. They remain through Sunday, Jan. 21 to take on Oregon at 10 a.m.
