Pacific’s Week Highlighted with Home Men’s Basketball Game Thursday against Portland

STOCKTON, Calif. – In the only home event of the week for the Pacific Department of Athletics, the men's basketball program plays host to Portland at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

The Tigers (6-16, 0-7 WCC) will be out for revenge after dropping a 78-64 decision to Portland (7-15, 1-6 WCC) earlier this season. Junior Cam Denson led Pacific with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and secured six rebounds in that contest.

Pacific is 31-16 all-time against Portland and 20-4 at home. The Tigers beat the Pilots 81-77 at home last season as Denson recorded team-highs of 12 points and seven rebounds. Pacific has won five of the last six home games against Portland.

The Tigers are coming off a hard fought 82-73 defeat to Gonzaga over the weekend. Pacific led as late as the 8:16 mark of the second half and was tied with 7:30 remaining before the Bulldogs hit a string of four long range shots down the stretch. Senior Donovan Williams led the Tigers with 14 points.

Saturday's game was part of a national Coaches vs. Cancer Week initiative benefiting the American Cancer Society. The Pacific men's basketball staff wore Suits & Sneakers to raise awareness.

Senior Judson Martindale leads the team in scoring with 10.1 points per game. He shoots .392 from three-point range and has nailed a team-high 31 threes on the year.

In conference games, Williams averages team-highs of 11.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He's scored in double-figures in six of seven WCC games.

Sophomore Moe Odum ranks second in the West Coast Conference in both assists (4.7 apg) and assist:turnover ratio (2.4).

The Pilots are looking to snap a six-game skid, most recently falling to San Francisco 76-64 at home. Portland ranks second in the WCC in three-pointers made per game with 8.7 as Tyler Roberson shoots .373 from beyond-the-arc and averages a team-high 16.6 points per game (second in the WCC).

The game can be watched live on ESPN+ with Zack Bayrouty and Bob Thomason on the call. It can also be heard live on Fox Sports AM 1280 with Dennis Ackerman as talent.
