STOCKTON, Calif. – In one of its biggest home dates of the season, the Pacific men's basketball program hosts Gonzaga at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
The game is part of a national Coaches vs. Cancer Week initiative benefiting the American Cancer Society as the Pacific (6-15, 0-6 WCC) men's basketball staff will be wearing Suits & Sneakers to raise awareness.
The Tigers return home after completing a stretch of four road games in five outings. The program is 804-446 all-time at home and 341-213 in the Spanos Center.
Sophomore
Moe Odum, who netted a season-high 21 points in Pacific's last home game against Santa Clara, ranks second in the West Coast Conference in both assists (4.7 apg) and assist:turnover ratio (2.5). With 19 points and 10 assists against San Francisco, he became the first student-athlete at Pacific to submit a double-double in points and assists since Pierre Crockrell II posted 10 points and 10 assists against Portland on Feb. 13, 2020.
Senior
Judson Martindale leads the team in scoring with 10.2 points per game. He shoots .382 from three-point range and has nailed a team-high 29 threes on the year.
In conference games, senior
Donovan Williams averages team-highs of 11.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. He's scored in double-figures in five of six WCC games.
In the WCC opener against San Francisco, senior
Lesown Hallums, Jr. poured in a career-high 25 points and was a scorching 9-of-11 from the field and 3-of-4 from long range.
Gonzaga (14-5, 5-1 WCC) has won three in a row including a 77-72 victory over San Francisco on Thursday. The Bulldogs, who are ranked No. 27 nationally in the NCAA NET Rankings, have a win over No. 24 UCLA on their resume.
The Bulldogs lead the WCC in scoring and rank 12th nationally with 85.1 points per game. They have five student-athletes averaging in double-figure scoring as Graham Ike paces the team with 15.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per outing.
The game can be watched live on ESPN+ with Zack Bayrouty and Bob Thomason on the call. It can also be heard live on Fox Sports AM 1280 with Dennis Ackerman as talent.
NOTES
- Pacific is going for its second-ever win against Gonzaga and the first since Dec. 23, 1976.
- Pacific has made more free throws than the opposition and posted a positive turnover margin in four of six WCC games this year.
- The Tigers are 5-1 this season when leading at half. In three seasons under head coach
Leonard Perry, Pacific is 25-9 when leading at half, 22-12 when it makes more threes than the opposition and 6-0 when hold the opposition to under 60 points.
- Pacific is 3-1 this season in games decided by one possession (three points or less).
- Pacific's non-conference slate was highlighted by an 87-79 road victory over Cal on Nov. 10. It was the first win over Cal in 11 tries dating back to Dec. 10, 1954 when the Tigers won 82-77 in Berkeley 69 seasons ago. It was Pacific's first win over a Pac-12 opponent since Dec. 17, 1994 when it beat Oregon State at home 72-66.
- The Tigers have used 11 different starting lineups in 21 games this year.
