MORAGA, Calif. – The Pacific men's basketball program was slowed down on the offensive end as Saint Mary's used a big first half run to create separation in a 76-28 final Thursday at the University Credit Union Pavilion.
The game was tied near the midway point of the first half when the Gaels (15-6, 6-0 WCC) used a 19-0 run to build an advantage against the Tigers (6-15, 0-6 WCC). Pacific couldn't overcome a cold shooting night as it went 10-of-50 (.200) from the floor and 3-of-17 (.176) from three-point range.
Senior
Donovan Williams led the Tigers with seven points and four rebounds. Senior
Judson Martindale chipped in with six points and a pair of steals.
Saint Mary's, which entered play ranked No. 22 in the NCAA Net Rankings, used a balanced scoring attack as Alex Lucas and Aidan Mahaney netted 11 points apiece. The Gaels shot 27-of-51 (.529) from the field.
The Tigers trailed 8-3 early when Martindale went the length of the court to score, followed by a three by Williams to tie it 8-8 at the 13:48 mark. A field goal by junior

The Gaels responded with its 19-0 spurt to catapult ahead 29-10 with 3:03 to go. Despite a three from senior
Lesown Hallums, Jr., Saint Mary's maintained a 32-14 edge at the half.
Pacific was down 39-21 after a steal and fast break lay-up by Williams with 15:55 remaining. A drive by freshman
Tan Yildizoglu found freshman
Makai Richards open for a lay-in to change it to 45-23 at the 12:28 mark.
It was the fourth road game in five outings for Pacific.
The Tigers return home Saturday to host Gonzaga at 7 p.m. at the Alex G. Spanos Center. The game is part of Coaches vs. Cancer Suits & Sneakers week.
