Pacific to Host Saint Mary’s at the Spanos Center

STOCKTON, Calif – Pacific women's basketball looks to continue its winning ways as it plays Saint Mary's for the second time this season at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Alex G. Spanos Center.
 
Last week, Pacific (12-7, 4-2 WCC) earned back-to-back wins at San Diego (75-48) and against Pepperdine (72-49). Graduate student Cecilia Holmberg recorded her first two 20+ point performances of her career in both games. The Bjarred, Sweden native notched 20 points against the Toreros and a career-high 21 against the Waves. Holmberg was selected as the WCC Player of the Week for her performance on Tuesday.
 
 Junior Elizabeth Elliott is leading the Tigers with 14.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Junior Anaya James is posting 12.2 points and 5.4 boards per game while leading Pacific with 5.6 assists per game. Holmberg and senior Kadie Deaton are registering 11.3 points per game apiece. Deaton also leads the Tigers with 1.4 steals per game.
 
Pacific has won 20 games against Saint Mary's (9-10, 2-3 WCC), including the last three.
 
Both teams met in the West Coast Conference opener back on Jan. 4 at University Credit Union Pavilion. The Tigers came out with a 60-57 nail biter over the Gaels. Elliott led with 23 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
 
Saint Mary's is coming off a 73-67 overtime win at Portland on Monday. The Gaels earned their first win in conference play against San Diego by a score of 67-59 on Jan. 6.
 
Zeryhia Aokuso, who was named this week's WCC Freshman of the Week, leads Saint Mary's with 10.7 points per game. Ali Bamberger is the leader in rebounds with 4.5 per game while registering 10.1 points per game.
 
The Gaels are third in field goal (.447) (57th nationally) and three-point percentage (.335) (88th nationally) in the league. In addition, Saint Mary's is 72nd in the country in bench points per game (22.9).
 
Following the contest at home, Pacific is on the road for the next three games beginning at Portland at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
 
NOTES
-This will be the 45th meeting between Pacific and Saint Mary's.
 
-The Tigers have a 12-11 advantage when playing the Gaels at the Spanos Center.
 
- In 18 of its 19 games this season, Pacific has had three or more players score in double figures.

-The Tigers are second in the WCC in scoring offense with an average of 73.1 points per game.
 
-Pacific is 11-1 when leading at halftime. The Tigers are also 8-2 when scoring 70 or more points and 7-0 when holding opponents 50 or below.
 
-All players averaging double figures in scoring are ranked in the top 20 in the WCC. Elliott is currently second in the league and 14th nationally in field goal percentage (.614). Smith is second in the conference and 76th in the country in free throws made (68).
 
-Pacific is ranked in the top 100 nationally in six statistical categories with its highest being 25th in assists per game (17.8).
