Men's Tennis Travels to Eugene, take on Seattle and Oregon

STOCKTON, Calif. - Pacific men's tennis team opens 2024 on the road, traveling to Eugene, Ore. to take on Seattle and Oregon this Saturday, Jan. 20 and Sunday, Jan. 21. The Tigers start the weekend with a dual against the Redhawks before ending the weekend going head-to-head with the Ducks.

The Tigers come off a fall that produced a run to the ITA Fall Nationals, featuring Tiger tandem junior Justas Trainauskas and senior Peter Alam. The effort ranked them the #19 doubles team in the country at the conclusion of the fall per ITA. Sophomore Tiago Silva was also a pivotal piece in the Tigers' success, which earned him a #107 ranking in men's singles.

Seattle enters Eugene after splitting its first two matches of the season. The Redhawks opened with a 4-1 decision over UC Riverside before falling to Montana State 6-1 in Bozeman. Last weekend, its doubles team of junior Michael Frank and senior Julian Worn, went 2-0 in their matches, which garnered them the WAC doubles players of the week. They come off a 6-2 decision over Montana State.

Pacific has yet to face Seattle, meeting for the first time this Saturday on the court.

Oregon starts its season on Friday, Jan. 19 facing Purdue. The Ducks host three matches through the weekend, including their dual with Pacific on Sunday.

The Ducks have won the last five matches against the Tigers since Pacific rejoined the West Coast Conference in 2013. Pacific traveled to Eugene a year ago and fell to the Ducks in a 4-1 decision.

The Tigers face the Redhawks on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. to kick off 2024. They return to action against Oregon on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 10 a.m.
