Providence, R.I. – The #6 Pacific men's water polo team continued its offensive onslaught with a pair of wins at the Brown Classic on Sunday. The Tigers defeated Iona, 19-9 and Bucknell, 24-12 to raise their record to 4-0.
In the win against Iona, Pacific built a 5-1 lead after the first quarter with a pair of goals by
Daniel Viscia on its way to the win.
Stefan Vavic was a one-man wrecking crew with five goals and four assists on eight shots in the win to lead the Tigers. Viscia finished the contest with three goals,
Filip Norell added four goals and
Cooper Gaderson added a pair to lead a Tigers offense that out shot the Gaels, 39-24. To complement the offensive onslaught was goalkeeper
Lewis Gale, who made eight saves in the win.
The second match of the day saw the potent attack of Pacific present a difficult challenge for its opponent, Bucknell. After a 5-4 lead in the first period, it was a 5-1 advantage in the second quarter and a nine-goal effort in the third quarter that proved to be the difference.
Aleksa Šišakovic and Spencer Burdick each scored four goals,
Rene Peralta and
Stefan Vavic each had three in the win.
Gil Gvishi,
Ran Souva,
Daniel Viscia and
Filip Norell all found the back of the twice. Goalkeeper
Lewis Gale racked up nine saves in the win.
Monday will wrap up the opening weekend of action at the Brown Classic as the Tigers take on the host Bears at 7 a.m. (PST)/10 a.m. (EST).
