Men’s Soccer Hosts Houston Christian on Saturday

Pacific Men's Soccer (3-2-3) welcomes a new opponent in Houston Christian (formerly Baptist) (2-3-2) to Knoles Field for Latin Heritage Night at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The Tigers are coming off back-to-back draws that included a 1-1 tie against San Jose State and a 2-2 tie at Utah Valley. Fifth-year senior Derick Roque, who was named West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, scored all three goals in the two-game stretch for Pacific. The Southgate, Calif. native posted his first career multi-goal performance at Utah Valley.

The Tigers meet the Huskies for the first time in program history. Houston Christian competes in the Ohio Valley Conference and was picked to finish third in the preseason poll. The Huskies' two wins this season came against Omaha (4-1) and Santa Clara (1-0). Houston Christian recently dropped a 3-1 contest at Grand Canyon on Wednesday. D'Alessandro Herrera leads the Huskies in scoring with seven points on three goals and one assist.

Next week, Pacific begins WCC play at Portland at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30.

The Tigers do have a non-conference match remaining on its schedule. During the bye week in WCC play, Pacific will host California at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 as a feature event during the Homecoming & Family Weekend celebration.

Admission to home soccer matches on the Pacific campus is free.
