STOCKTON, Calif. – For the third match in four contests, the University of the Pacific men's soccer team is back on the road as the Tigers travel on Sunday to face CSU Bakersfield at 7 p.m.
The Tigers look to build off Thursday's 1-0 win in the home opener over UC Riverside. Pacific picked up the game-winning goal in the first minute of the contest as
Derick Roque scored his second goal of the season. Goalkeeper
Joshua Moya made three saves for his second win and first career shutout. For the season, the Tigers through the first three games hold a slight advantage in shots at 32-31 as both Pacific and the visitors have scored five goals.
Sunday's opponent CSU Bakersfield enter the contest with an 0-1-1 mark. The Roadrunners tied San Jose State, 1-1 to begin the season and dropped a 1-0 decision to San Diego State on Monday. The Roadrunners are led by Adam Grant, who is serving as the interim head coach after previous coach Richie Grant (no relation) stepped aside in late July. CSUB was picked to finish 10th in the Big West Conference.
Pacific has won the last three meetings, two of which came at the friendly confines of Knoles Field in Stockton.
