STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's basketball program and Head Coach Leonard Perry have announced the next signee for the upcoming 2023-24 season, Lesown Hallums Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y.
"Lesown can score, and he is a good defender," Perry said about his recruit. "He has played in many challenging environments throughout his career and has been successful. Coming from the community college level in Northern California, he is also very familiar with this area."
Hallums, the second transfer to join the Tigers for the upcoming season, comes to the program after spending one season at South Carolina State. Earning the start in 20 games during the 2022-23 season, Hallums ranked third on the team in scoring, averaging 10.6 points per game.
Hallums reached double figures in 13 games last season for the Bulldogs while surpassing the 20-point threshold three times. The 6-2 guard scored a season-high 22 points in a 73-68 win at East Carolina on November 29 and tallied 20 points in a narrow three-point loss to instate rival South Carolina on November 8.
A lethal shooter, Hallums shot 40.5 percent from beyond the three-point line last season, leading the Bulldogs in that category.
Before his time with the Bulldogs, Hallums appeared in 30 games at Mendocino College in Ukiah, Calif., during the 2021-22 season. While with the Eagles, Hallums averaged 21.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, earning All-America honors as one of the top guards in the nation by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).
