STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific University men's soccer will host UC Riverside on Thurday nighat at Knoles Field to kickoff the home portion of its 2023 schedule. The Tigers are eager to avenge a 4-2 loss on Monday to UCSB and start the home slate with a win its home opener for the first time since the 2019 season.
The attack for Paciic has seen four-different goal scorers in the first two games and 10 players record a shot. The offense for Pacific has a 25-22 advantage in shots thru the first two games.
Jose Maria Barrera has posted a team-best six shots, five of which came in the season opener against UC San Diego. Goalkeeper
Joshua Moya has earned the start in the first two games between the posts for the Tigers. In 180 minutes of action, Moya has made four saves.
The Tigers were picked to finish sixth in the WCC; whereas, the Highlanders of UC Riverside was picked to finish second in the Big West Conference. The Highlanders are led by Brendon Clark, who was named to the Big West Preseason Team after a 2022 season where he led Highlanders' back line after leading UCR in points, goals, shots and shots on goal while later earning NSCAA All-Far West honors. UCR has started the 2023 season with an 0-2 mark with losses to Gonzaga (2-1) and Oregon State (3-0).
