Pacific Women's Soccer Opens 2023 Season with Two Home Matches

Home Game Will Be Pacific's First ESPN+ Broadcast

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's soccer team kicks off the 2023 season with two home matches this weekend at Knoles Field. UC San Diego visits Stockton at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 17, to open the season before Eastern Washington comes to town at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 20. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+ as part of the West Coast Conference's new partnership.

"We are really looking forawrd to a great opening weekend," said Co-Head Coach Danesha Adams. "The preseason has been good and the group is ready to compete."

Pacific looks to continue its dominance in non-conference play, with the team's unbeaten streak reaching 17 non-conference games last season. Pacific has just one loss over the past 21 non-conference games since Co-Head Coaches Danesha Adams and J.J. Wozniak took over.

"We can not wait to get the fans back to Knoles Field," Co-Head Coach J.J. Wozniak stated. "Come check out an entertaining brand of soccer!"

It will be the first time the Tigers have played UC San Diego since 2005, a 1-0 win for the Tigers. This is the conclusion of UC San Diego's transition to NCAA DI after 20 seasons as a NCAA DII program. The Tritons goalkeeper led the Big West last season with 105 saves.

It will be the first time Pacific and Eastern Washington have faced each other on the pitch; the Eagles are returning nine starters from the 2022 team. Senior Maddie Morgan returns after being named Big Sky Co-Offensive Player of the Year.

Pacific brings back plenty of talent as well, with 11 returners joined by 10 new faces to make up the 2023 Tigers. Fifth-year senior Hana Rosenblatt will anchor the defense, while fifth-year seniors Jaida Nyby, Lauren Frohan and Ryanne Molenaar will provide problems for opposing defenses all season.

As always, games played at Knoles Field are free to attend.
